today I traded my mint AK-47 and $150 for this kz750 project, tidying it up and cafe-ricing it will keep me sane over the long hellish Colorado winter and when spring rolls around I’ll be ready to ride. None of the local shops have an ignition though :(

if you don’t plan on selling, just get a wiring diagram, have a bunch of switches connecting the needed wires and a hidden kill switch so no one walks off with it.

Hidden kill switches are the COOLEST.

I hope it’ incredibly complex and ridiculous.

I’m doing this with my XJ right now, except I’m going a bit farther and eliminating every switch off the handlebars except for the horn and a kill switch. Everything else will be tucked under the side right where I sit.

you might want to keep your turn signals there....and high beam...why would you move your 2 most used switches AWAY from where they would be easily accessible? If anything, I’d hide the kill switch. you only need twice on a ride.

keep in mind you will still need a key for the gas-cap (unless you replace it) and you’d loose the handlebar lock.

I WAS going to do that on my DR650, but I plan on selling it.

Yeah the gas tank is from from a kz1000 for whatever reason so I have a separate key for that, step one will be get it running and then I’ll get rid of the blinged out brake levers and paint the tank baby blue

Nope, they’re going on switches tucked under my leg. They’ll still be pretty easy to get to, just have to remove a hand from the bars temporarily. It’s more of my fun bike and not a daily, I’m usually on back roads without A) lots of traffic, B) turns, so blinkers aren’t really a concern, and I do very little night riding, especially on that bike so the high beam isn’t a big concern either. I’m going to hide the main kill but still like the idea of having an easily accessible kill in case of emergencies. The reason I’m doing all this in the first place is to eliminate the massive control blocks on my handlebars that limit bar placement without hitting the tank. That and it’ll look awesome.
